Development of a Hydrogen Valley for Exploitation of Green Hydrogen in Central Italy

Green hydrogen exploitation plays a crucial role in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Hydrogen, fact, provides number of key benefits for the energy system, due to its integrability with other clean technologies production and consumption. This paper is aimed at presenting project recovery an abandoned industrial area located central Italy developing site green hydrogen. To this aim, analysis territorial context allowed us design phases define sizing criteria plant. The results preliminary cost–benefit show that huge initial investment required that, short term, sustainable only very large public grant. On hand, long sustainable, significantly overcome costs.
